We have some trees on the grounds that have been in need of pruning for a number of years and decided to go ahead with the tree trimming now. Sunrise Tree Care will be doing the work. The trees are:
An elm tree at the rear of the Admin Building with very large limbs overhanging the roof;
A mulberry growing through the Admin Building fire escape;
The chestnut in the back of 1724 with utility wires running through the branches;
The chestnut in the middle of the grounds with branches overhanging the Cottage;
And the chestnut to the North of the Admin Building with utility wires running through and branches overhanging the Admin Building (not seen so well here - still working on my photography skills...).
On the plant front, we definitely have bulbs - daffodils (front of Cottage)...
...and hyacinth (Southeast garden bed of Cottage).
Here's a better shot of that mystery plant growing on the North side of the Admin Building. To identify a plant, I usually wait until it is in flower, take a picture of the whole plant and another one of the flower(s). Then I take the pictures up to the Chicago Botanic Garden where the helpful people in their Plant Information Service can look through their reference books and tell me what it is. They offer this wonderful service to everyone, free of charge.
