Here are a few pictures of some lovely woodland flowers that are growing under the chestnut in the center of the grounds, between the Cottage and the Admin Building.

These are Virginia Bluebells (Mertensia virginica)

Here are Jack-in-the-Pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum)

And finally some Trillium (haven't identified the species yet).  In these pictures you'll also see some ginger (they have the heart shaped leaves) and a bunch of weedy ground cover that has got to go.

Otherwise, the big news is...mulch!  Lots of it!  This is about 20 cubic yards of wood chips, given to us by Sunrise Tree Care who pruned a number of our trees.  They also removed a number of weed trees and derelict shrubs for us for free.

So far, we've used it by mulching wide circles under trees where nothing much would grow due to dense shade and competition with the tree's roots.  Here's a maple in the back that received the treatment (we also removed a kinda-sorta garden bed with nothing much in it, then seeded it).

And here's a catalpa our front between the Cottage and 1724.

Last of all, we unearthed where the previous path was laid at the rear of 1732, which was no surprise.  We will re-install the path using irregular lannon stone, the same as other paths currently on the grounds.
