Frances Willard Birthday Reception
The Activist and the Artist: Frances Willard and Helen Farnsworth Mears
Exhibit opens May 15 - Runs through December 15, 2005
Frances Willard House, 1730 Chicago Avenue in Evanston, Illinois This exhibit examines Mears' artistic career, and features a bust of Willard done by Mears as a study for the statue. The Frances Willard House is open 1 - 4 p.m. the first and third Sundays of the month, and by appointment. Tours of the house are $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for Children 12 and under, and free for members.

Sculpting a Legacy: Helen Farnsworth Mears Makes History

Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Avenue, Evanston, Illinois
Art historian Laurel Spencer Forsythe will give an overview of Mears' life and artistic work, and author Mary Hiles will present five songs from her musical "The Fountain of Life," based on Mears' life. Co-sponsored by the Frances Willard Historical Assn and the Evanston Public Library.
Frances Willard Speaks: A History and Reenactment
May 21 from 2 - 4 p.m. - Free program
Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Avenue, Evanston, Illinois
Authors Amy Slagell and Carolyn DeSwarte Gifford will discuss Frances Willard's public speaking career, and actress Leslie Goddard will re-enact excerpts from some of Willard's most powerful speeches. Co-sponsored by the Frances Willard Historical Assn and the Evanston Public Library.
